About Physio-Chi
-
Physio-Chi is a physio-informed movement practice that blends the gentle flow of Tai Chi with evidence-based rehabilitation techniques. Designed to improve mobility, manage chronic pain, reduce stress, and boost emotional wellbeing, Physio-Chi is accessible for people of all ages and ability levels. It’s a flexible, mindful exercise you can do standing, seated, or even in the pool.
-
Unlike traditional Tai Chi, Physio-Chi is developed by a qualified physiotherapist and tailored to meet diverse physical and neurological needs. While physiotherapy often requires one-on-one treatment, Physio-Chi offers a self-paced, low-impact movement practice accessible online. It’s ideal for those seeking a gentle, consistent way to support rehabilitation and wellbeing.
-
Physio-Chi supports physical, emotional, and mental health (all evidence backed). Benefits include:
Improved joint mobility and flexibility
Better balance and posture
Reduced chronic pain and tension
Enhanced mood and reduced anxiety
Improved sleep and overall life satisfaction
The movements are designed to cultivate the body’s natural energy flow (Qi), leading to a greater sense of calm and clarity.
-
In Physio-Chi — just like in traditional Tai Chi — the “Flow of Qi” describes the feeling of life force energy moving smoothly through your body. When you first start, learning the movements may feel a little mechanical, as you focus on the sequence and technique. Over time, as you become more familiar with each flow and your body relaxes into the practice, you’ll naturally begin to feel this gentle, energising sensation.
This is why we recommend committing to at least 1–3 months of Physio-Chi practice: once the movements become second nature, you’ll experience the true benefits — improved mobility, reduced pain, a calmer mind, and the restorative flow of Qi that brings everything together.
-
Physio-Chi, inspired by traditional Tai Chi and backed by physiotherapy principles, is supported by strong scientific evidence. Research shows that regular mindful movement practice like Physio-Chi:
Trains the brain to produce calming alpha brain waves, helping you feel more relaxed and focused.
Promotes hyper-oxygenation of the brain, improving clarity and mental sharpness.
Stimulates the growth of new brain cells after just 3 months of consistent weekly practice.
Has been confirmed by MRI scans to enlarge areas of the brain, boosting cognitive function.
Strengthens the body by up to 20%, improving balance and physical resilience.
Can reduce the risk of falls by up to 64% with just 3 months of weekly sessions.
This growing body of evidence shows how a simple, gentle practice like Physio-Chi can have powerful effects on your brain, body, and overall wellbeing — especially when practiced regularly for at least 1–3 months.

Yes – there are no lock-in contracts. However, we recommend a minimum of 3 months of consistent practice to truly feel the benefits of Physio-Chi and connect with the flow of “Qi.” Like learning a new skill, it takes time to feel the full effect/benefits.
-
Not at all. You just need a comfortable space and a device to watch the videos. For seated practices, a sturdy chair or fitball is ideal. If you’re doing the aquatic version, you’ll need access to a pool.
Classes & Ability Levels
-
Physio-Chi classes are delivered online through a structured series of “Colour Blocks,” each introducing new movements and themes.
Classes are available in formats including:
Standing routines
Seated routines (on a chair or fitball)
Aquatic Physio-Chi for use in a pool
This ensures anyone can participate, regardless of mobility or setting.
-
No prior experience is required. Physio-Chi is designed for beginners and people of all fitness levels, including those with chronic pain, limited mobility, or recovering from injury. The practice starts gently and progresses at your own pace, so you build confidence and strength gradually.
-
Physio-Chi is ideal for seniors looking to maintain independence, reduce stiffness, and manage pain in a safe and gentle way. It’s also well-suited to aged care settings due to its low-impact nature and options for seated or aquatic practice.
Physio-Chi can also be beneficial for younger participants, especially those with ADHD, anxiety, or sensory processing challenges. It helps improve focus, emotional regulation, and motor coordination in a calming and non-competitive environment.
-
No special equipment is required — just a screen (computer, tablet, or phone) to watch the video class.
If you choose to do the seated version using an exercise ball, you’ll need one of those — otherwise, nothing else is needed.
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely. Supportive footwear is optional — many people practise barefoot or in flat-soled shoes.
