Meet Jenny Lucy - The Heart Behind Physio-Chi
Physiotherapist, Tai Chi Practitioner, and Advocate for Movement as Medicine
As a qualified physiotherapist and a long-time Tai Chi practitioner, I’ve seen firsthand how movement can transform lives. Over the past 30 years, I’ve trained in the Chan Lee Style, the Modified Sun Style 40 form, the Sun Style 73 form and the Yang 24 – each one deepening my understanding of balance, flow, and recovery.
My career has taken me from community care in local Clinics to high-performance sport – including time as the physiotherapist for the New Zealand AFL squad. These experiences have shaped my belief in movement as medicine, whether you’re a professional athlete or someone simply looking to feel more at ease in your body.
In 2019, I completed full training and certification in Physio-Chi – a modified, evidence-based Tai Chi practice originally created by Moh Tapper. I believed so strongly in its potential that I became its proud owner in 2020.
Today, I’m honoured to continue Moh’s vision, sharing Physio-Chi as a powerful rehabilitation tool and lifelong wellness practice for individuals of all walks of life.
My journey began with martial arts in my 20s, but it was Tai Chi’s slow, flowing movements that truly captured my heart. Over 15 years of teaching, including specialised Tai Chi for Arthritis, I discovered the powerful blend of movement, mindfulness, and accessibility.
In 2019, I took over Physio-Chi from founder Moh Tapper, continuing her vision of safe, effective, physio-guided Tai Chi for all. Inspired by a 2024 trip to China for the Wushu Tai Chi Championships, I’m now bringing Physio-Chi online — making mindful movement accessible to anyone, anywhere.

My Personal Experiences
Celebrating Achievement, Together
Alongside my fellow teammates at the World Wushu Championships in China, we proudly placed third in our division. A meaningful milestone that reflects dedication, teamwork, and the shared passion we bring to every practice.
Embracing the Roots of Tai Chi
In 2024, I travelled to Wudang, China — the birthplace of Tai Chi — to deepen my understanding of its traditional roots. Joining global practitioners through the Deyin Taijiquan Institute at the World Wushu Championships was an incredible opportunity to learn, connect, and bring even more authenticity to the Physio-Chi approach.
Practising Where Tradition Lives
Performing Tai Chi at the historic Purple Heaven Temple on Mount Wudang — the breathtaking setting made famous by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. A truly special moment immersed in the heart of Tai Chi tradition.
Decades of Clinical Experience
With over 30 years of physiotherapy experience, I have supported countless individuals on their path to better movement and wellbeing. My career highlights include serving as the physiotherapist for the New Zealand AFL team, where I combined clinical expertise with high-performance care and working in local GP clinics. This rich experience underpins every element of Physio-Chi.
Guiding you through every move
I love sharing Physio-Chi in a relaxed, inclusive group setting. With over 30 years of experience and a background in physiotherapy, I create classes that are safe, supportive, and adaptable—whether you're standing, seated, or just starting out. Everyone is welcome, and every movement is a step toward feeling better.
